Our Mission: To deliver over 68,000 lunches for disadvantaged kids

Soul Origin proudly supports Eat Up, a national charity providing free school lunches to students who might otherwise go without. By combining Soul Origin’s passion for fresh, nourishing food with Eat Up’s mission to ensure no child goes hungry, this partnership helps give Aussie children the nourishment they need to learn, grow and succeed.

This year, Soul Origin’s support will enable Eat Up to make 68,000 sandwiches, which will be delivered, along with nutritious snacks, to schools for disadvantaged kids who have no food from home. Missing out on lunch has a big impact on children: hunger can cause fatigue and poor concentration, which often leads to learning difficulties and behavioural challenges, leaving disadvantaged children further behind their peers.

Together, our shared goal is simple: to give all kids access to nutritious food, support their learning, and help create a brighter future.

Why have we partnered with Eat Up?

Eat Up’s mission is to ensure that no child goes hungry at school. By providing free lunches for kids experiencing hunger and hardship at home, they make sure they can concentrate, learn, grow, and succeed at school, just as every child should have the opportunity to do!

Why have we partnered with Eat Up?

Eat Up is the first Australian not-for-profit to provide lunches to hungry students nationally, delivering over 1.3 million lunches per year to 1,000+ schools in NSW, NT, QLD, VIC and WA.

Eat Up engages with thousands of volunteers to prepare the 30,000+ sandwiches it delivers each week.

Areas of need are identified using socio-economic data. Eat Up collaborates with teachers and school principals in these areas to assess the level of need and implement the Eat Up program as required.

Sandwiches are delivered to schools together with nutritious snacks. Lunches are discreetly distributed by teachers to children in need.

By providing nourishment to disadvantaged students at school, Eat Up aims to improve their engagement in the classroom so they can better take advantage of learning opportunities, succeed in education and ultimately, have a brighter future.

Each sandwich represents a step toward ensuring that no child goes hungry, reinforcing Soul Origin’s commitment to making a difference, and we love tracking this in real time.

Stories That Matter

“As a recent Year 12 graduate who has faced the challenges of homelessness and financial hardship, the Eat Up program was a lifeline during my schooling. Knowing that there was always a meal waiting for me at school meant more than just having food—it gave me dignity, stability, and the ability to focus on my studies instead of my empty stomach. The program isn't just about sandwiches; it's about hope. For students like me, who often felt invisible, Eat Up reminded us that someone cared. That simple act of providing meals gave me the strength to graduate and dream of a better future. I believe every school should embrace this initiative—it can transform lives, just as it transformed mine. Eat Up doesn’t just feed students, it fuels their potential.

“We have numerous students who would otherwise have no other access to food. This program provides them the opportunity not just eat, but to meet with support staff, create daily goals and enjoy a positive day.

Senior High School, WA”

“We are in a rural city. This program provides a stable food source for some of our students regularly and others on an occasional basis. This impacts their ability to focus, connect and feel secure.

It relieves a lot of stress on staff so that it is easy for us to provide food to someone in need. It also relieves stress for the student, knowing that we can provide them with food.

Secondary School, VIC”

“Our students have shown improved focus, engagement, and participation since receiving sandwiches through Eat Up. Access to food helps them concentrate in class and feel cared for and supported.
